Three Notre Dame targets major risers in the updated 2027 class Rivals300 rankings

Three days after updating the 2026 class player rankings, On3 has rebranded its 2027 player rankings to Rivals and updated them.
Most of Wednesday’s updates for Notre Dame football’s 2027 class recruiting targets were inconsequential, with their prospect rankings shifting three spots or less. Fighting Irish linebacker commit Ellis McGaskin out of Mobile (Ala.) Williamson maintained his standing as the No. 282 overall player and No. 18 linebacker in the class.
However, there were three major risers in the updated Rivals300 rankings. Here is a look at each one.
Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb four-star QB Teddy Jarrard (+55)
Notre Dame waited until June 21 to offer a 2027 class quarterback. Jarrad was one of two recipients alongside Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy signal-caller Peyton Houston.
Less than one month later, Jarrard was one of the biggest movers in the updated Rivals rankings. He climbed 55 spots from the No. 107 overall player in the class to No. 52. The 6-3, 196-pound Jarrard is now also the No. 2 quarterback, improving from his previous No. 7 positional ranking.
Jaarrad’s climb in the rankings comes after he won quarterback MVP at the Rivals Five-Star Camp in Indianapolis last month. His outing caught the attention of Rivals’ director of scouting and rankings, Charles Power.
“Teddy Jarrard had the best performance of any quarterback at the Rivals Five-Star Challenge,” Power said. “It was clear that he was the best quarterback on the day. He was the most accurate passer and made the quickest decisions. The ball was out in a timely fashion, and he was very impressive in the 7-on-7 setting. He almost had a flawless day, aside from one later interception.
“He won the accuracy challenge and was outstanding in 1-on-1s. Everything looked easy for him. It was impressive considering there were quarterbacks from the 2026 class, 2027 cycle and two top 2028 passers were there, and he was the consensus top quarterback there.
“He had a very impressive performance. I really like how he throws the football. He is super consistent, has a good arm and makes quick decisions. He read defender leverage really well and knew when to get the ball out of his hands — at the ideal time when his receivers had separation. Again, he was very impressive.”
As a sophomore, Jarrad guided North Cobb Christian to an 11-2 record and the state semifinals. He completed 209-291 passes for 2,647 yards and 31 touchdowns, only throwing five interceptions. Jarrard is one of the most heavily-recruited passers in the class with Missouri, Ohio State, Michigan and Georgia as Notre Dame’s top competitors.
Fort Worth (Texas) North Crowley four-star CB Jerry Outhouse (+34)
Because Outhouse has not yet visited Notre Dame, he is one of the more unknown players in the class. Still, the Irish are one of the early favorites in his recruitment.

“The history of their football program,” Outhouse told On3 | Rivals vice president of recruiting and transfer portal Steve Wiltfong, about what interests him in Notre Dame announcing his scholarship offer on Pot of Gold Day. “They’re always on TV, and the coaches were really nice and already seemed like they knew me.”
In Wednesday’s update, Outhouse rose 34 spots and is now a top-100 recruit at No. 92 overall. He’s also the No. 9 cornerback nationally, which is four spots better than his previous ranking. The 6-foot-0½, 175-pounder is coming off a great sophomore season, posting 44 tackles, 3 stops for loss, 5 interceptions, 2 pass breakups and 1 fumble recovery.
In addition to Notre Dame, some of his favorite schools are Oregon, TCU, Nebraska, Georgia, Texas, Miami, Arkansas, Kansas, Michigan, SMU, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Arizona State, and Oklahoma.
Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star WR Julius Jones Jr. (+17)
Given his profile and position, there might not be a recruit higher on Notre Dame fans’ wish list than Jones. He’s the son of former Fighting Irish running back Julius Jones, who played for the program during the 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003 seasons.
The younger Jones is now the No. 59 overall player and No. 12 wide receiver in the class, up from No. 76 overall and No. 16 positionally. His rise in the rankings comes after On3 national scout Cody Bellaire named him MVP of the Under Armour Future 50, a one-day camp held at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., that featured dozens of elite high school juniors.
“Julius Jones put together an absolute clinic between the white lines on Saturday and was borderline unguardable,” Bellaire said. “He’s fluid and has excellent hip looseness that he shows off at the top of his routes. He does such a great job of setting up defenders and keeping them on their heels before snapping them off and creating separation.
“Jones is an easy hands catcher as well that does a good job of plucking the football away from his frame instead of letting it get to his chest. He had some serious wow plays during the competitive period, including five total touchdowns during 7-on-7. His toe-tapping grab in the back of the endzone was the catch of the day and capped off a fantastic overall performance.”
Last season, Jones led St. Thomas Aquinas in receiving as a sophomore. He caught 51 passes for 750 yards (14.7 yards per catch) and 6 touchdowns in 2024. In addition to Notre Dame, he has offers from Miami, Oregon, LSU, Ohio State, Florida, Penn State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, Florida State and Oklahoma.
