Three Notre Dame women’s basketball players named to Naismith Women’s Player of the Year watch list
Notre Dame is one of seven programs, in addition to South Carolina, UConn, USC, UCLA, Texas and LSU, that has three or more players on the 2024-25 Naismith Women’s Player of the Year watch list. The Fighting Irish are represented by sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo and senior guards Olivia Miles and Sonia Citron among the 50 total players from across the country.
That trio will be paramount in leading Notre Dame against UConn, USC and Texas all in the first month of the upcoming season, which begins in earnest with an exhibition game against Davenport this Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Purcell Pavilion. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The regular season gets going Nov. 4 against Mercyhurst, also tipping off in South Bend at 5 p.m. ET.

Hidalgo is the ACC’s Preseason Player of the Year. Miles and Citron are on the Preseason All-ACC team with her. Hidalgo averaged a Notre Dame-record 22.6 points per game as a freshman to go along with 6.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 4.6 steals per game. The steals figure was also a program-best.
Miles has not played since 2022-23 because of a knee injury. She averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 6.9 assists per game as a sophomore that season. Citron is coming off a career-best 17.3 points per game as a junior.
