Top-70 guard/forward Sir Mohammed commits to Notre Dame
For the second time this week, Notre Dame men’s basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry has secured a commitment in the class of 2024. Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park guard/forward Sir Mohammed, the No. 68 player in the On3 Industry Ranking, committed to Notre Dame on Saturday during his Boys Elite 24 game on ESPNU.
Mohammed chose the Irish over Stanford, Virginia Tech, Villanova and Marquette.
“[Shrewsberry is] like me in a way that all he wants to do is win,” Mohammed told Blue & Gold in June after his official visit. “He’s a great coach. He really cares about his players. You can tell it’s not a fake recruiting pitch. He just really cares about all his players.”

Mohammed is Shrewsberry’s third 2024 commitment and first four-star, according to the On3 Industry Ranking. Fairfax (Va.) Paul VI power forward Garrett Sundra committed Thursday, while Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy shooting guard Cole Certa committed May 4.
Mohammed is the son of longtime NBA player Nazr Mohammed.
“Sir Mohammed has good length with a projectable frame,” On3 national recruiting analyst Jamie Shaw said in his scouting report on Mohammed. “The most interesting part of the 6-foot-6 forwards game is his passing. Mohammed has excellent court vision, with great tough on his on-target and on-time deliveries.”
Mohammed does excel as a passer, to the point where he sees himself as more of a point guard than a small forward, which is his officially-listed position in the On3 Database. He plays that role at Myers Park, as his high school coach, Scott Taylor, told Blue & Gold that his size, strength and court vision fit what he wants in a point guard.

“People are starting to realize that I’m a lot better when I have the ball in my hands, making plays with people around me,” Mohammed said. “But I feel like that’s always how I’ve been since I was little. Just a really good passer, really good playmaker.”
After securing a commitment from Mohammed, the Irish will turn their attention to another high-profile target. Los Angeles Harvard Westlake point guard Trent Perry is set to visit South Bend on Sept. 1.
Perry is the No. 58 player and No. 9 point guard in the On3 Industry Ranking. On3 itself is higher on Perry, ranking him as the No. 36 player and No. 5 point guard in the nation. He holds offers from USC, Oregon, St. Mary’s and UCLA, as well as Notre Dame.
