Transfer portal: Former Clemson WR Beaux Collins commits to Notre Dame
Less than a week after securing a commitment from Florida International transfer Kris Mitchell, the Irish double-dipped at wide receiver. Former Clemson wideout Beaux Collins announced his commitment to Notre Dame on Sunday.
Collins visited South Bend, along with Duke transfer quarterback Riley Leonard, on Wednesday and Thursday. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
“There’s no other program with the exposure and respect they have week in and week out,” Collins told On3’s Hayes Fawcett. “What also stood out to me was [head] coach [Marcus] Free[man] and the respect that he already has throughout the program from the top down. Joining up with other ballers on the offense is going to be a sight to see in the near future.”
In three years at Clemson, Collins caught 91 passes for 1,290 yards and 11 touchdowns. This season, Collins had 38 receptions for 510 yards and 3 scores in a struggling Tigers offense with redshirt freshman quarterback Cade Klubnik at the helm.
Collins arrived at Clemson out of powerhouse preps program Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco High School in as a four-star prospect — and top-100 player — in the class of 2021. He was the No. 19 wide receiver and No. 99 overall player in the class, according to the On3 Consensus Recruiting Rankings.

As a freshman, the 6-foot-3, 210-pound wide receiver got on the field right away, catching 28 passes for 387 yards. His best game against Power Five competition remains a 4-reception, 137-yard, 1-touchdown performance against No. 10 Wake Forest on Nov. 20, 2021.
Beaux Collins to join developing Notre Dame wide receiver group
Collins announced his transfer to Notre Dame shortly after the Irish officially announced Mike Brown as its wide receivers coach. In addition to Collins and Mitchell, Brown will tutor five other current Irish scholarship wideouts. Collins and Mitchell are teaming up with rising seniors Jayden Thomas and Deion Colzie and rising sophomores Jordan Faison, Jaden Greathouse and KK Smith.
The Irish will also add three more reinforcements in the high school recruiting ranks later this month. Five-star Cam Williams, top 215 four-star Micah Gilbert, and top 330 four-star Logan Saldate are all verbally committed to Notre Dame. Williams, Gilbert and Saldate plan to sign with the program in December officially.
Notre Dame previously lost four wide receivers to the transfer portal: Rico Flores Jr., Braylon James, Tobias Merriweather and Chris Tyree. Tyree entered the portal as a graduate transfer. Flores, James and Merriweather entered the portal following head coach Freeman’s dismissal of wide receivers coach Chansi Stuckey.
