ESPN NFL draft analyst Matt Miller shared his top 50 prospects in the 2024 class on Thursday. Notre Dame football junior left tackle Joe Alt was the No. 9 overall prospect and No. 2 offensive tackle on Miller’s list.

“Alt has started 29 games at left tackle, showing power in both the run and pass game,” Miller wrote. “His strong lower body keeps him active in the run game, but it’s his patience and calm demeanor in the pass game that is so impressive.

“Alt has the length and power to handle outside rushers and their counter moves, and his agility allows him to recover well. He has allowed just eight pressures and two sacks over the past two seasons, and he’s a Day 1 starting left tackle in the NFL.”

In nine games this season for Notre Dame, the 6-foot-8, 322-pounder has only allowed three pressures. His 89.9 Pro Football Focus blocking grade leads all FBS offensive linemen who have played at least 20% of block snaps.

Miller only graded Penn State’s Olumuyiwa Fashanu ahead of Alt.

In addition to the Irish junior offensive tackle, Miller also ranked junior running back Audric Estimé as his No.1 running back. Estimé has registered 901 yards and 12 touchdowns on 146 carries this season.

Notre Dame Quote of the Day

“Football is not the end of all things. It’s definitely a great opportunity in my life, but there is more to life out there. The University of Notre Dame provides opportunities for us to help the communities. One of the places we help is the Ronald McDonald House Hospital. And we got to work with kids that were in the hospital.

“That’s something that I could relate to because me and my brother spent a good amount of time in the hospital growing up because my mother was always in and out of the hospital. So, just being able to give back to people who experience things I’ve gone through means a lot to me and means more than football could ever.”
