Where Notre Dame football ranks in Week 8 Associated Press Poll after beating Stanford
Notre Dame is officially halfway through its 2024 regular season, and the Fighting Irish (5-1) have been ascending in the national rankings ever since their Week 2 loss to Northern Illinois. It was another fruitful week of progress for head coach Marcus Freeman‘s team following a 49-7 victory over Stanford.
Notre Dame is now No. 12 in the Week 8 Associated Press Poll and No. 11 in the Coaches Poll. The Irish moved down one spots in the former and one spot in the latter from where they were ranked in the previous polls.
Ironically, Notre Dame moved down a spot in the AP Top 25 because No. 8 LSU (5-1) moved up five spots with a thrilling win over Ole Miss.

Top 25 sees big movement
The only teams on the 2024 Notre Dame schedule appearing in the rankings are Texas A&M, Army and Navy. The Aggies (5-1) are ranked No. 14 in the AP Top 25 and No. 14 in the Coaches Poll coming out of their bye week. The Black Knights (6-0) are No. 23 in the AP Top 25 and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll after a 44-10 victory over UAB. The Midshipmen (5-0) are not ranked in the Coaches Poll but are No. 25 in the AP Top 25.
Notre Dame opened the season with a win at then-No. 20 Texas A&M. The Irish will face Army at Yankee Stadium in New York in the penultimate game of the regular season on Nov. 23. Notre Dame plays Georgia Tech at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta this week before taking on Navy at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Oct. 26.
