Where On3 ranks Notre Dame football’s 2025 commits in the latest On300 update
For the first time since Feb. 26, On3 has updated its 2025 class player rankings. Six Notre Dame football commits cracked the new On300, which was released Monday.
Although high school football season has long been in the rearview mirror, constant review of player film, 7-on-7 tournaments and prospect camps have all played roles in the latest ranking update.
Surely, plenty of other factors have influenced On3’s director of scouting and rankings, Charles Power, and On3 national scout, and Cody Bellaire’s, discretion, too.
Here is how the Fighting Irish fared in On3’s latest recruit rankings update.
Notre Dame commit Will Black remains the class’ top offensive tackle prospect
The last time On3 updated its 2025 class player rankings, Will Back shot up 197 spots to the No. 6 overall recruit and top offensive tackle in the cycle. Now, the 6-foot-7, 285-pounder from Wallingford (Conn.) Choate Rosemary Hall crept up to No. 5 overall while remaining the top OT.
Black’s ranking remains the highest among Irish commits since On3 began rating prospects in the 2021 cycle. Previously, On3 ranked offensive tackles Guebry Lambert (2024) and Charles Jaguasah (2023) as the No. 18 and 25 overall players in their respective recruiting classes.
On Dec. 21, Black verbally committed to Notre Dame over Michigan, Penn State and 18 other “Core Four” (ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, SEC) offers. He will be back on campus for the Blue-Gold Game on Saturday.
Five other Notre Dame commits crack the On300
Quarterback Deuce Knight, safety Ivan Taylor, tight end James Flanigan, EDGE Christopher Burgess Jr. and defensive lineman Joseph Reiff are all slotted in the latest On300. Their moves were hardly notable, as they all maintained their ratings.
Lucedale (Miss.) George County’s Knight remains the No. 54 overall player, No. 6 quarterback nationally and No. 4 prospect in Mississippi.
Winter Garden (Fla.) West Orange’s Taylor also kept a similar ranking. He is still the No. 121 overall player. However, he dropped one spot to the No. 13 safety and four slots in-state to the No. 20 junior prospect in Florida.
Although Green Bay (Wis.) Notre Dame de la Baie Academy’s Flanigan fell 12 spots in the overall rankings, he remained the No. 6 tight end and top junior recruit in Wisconsin.
Chicago Simeon Career Academy’s Burgess climbed one spot in the positional rankings and is now the No. 16 EDGE in the class. He slid 17 spots to the No. 173 overall player and one notch in-state to the No. 6 junior in Illinois.
After debuting in the last On300, Reiff remained the No. 7 junior in Illinois. However, he descended 30 spots to the No. 270 overall player and dropped one spot positionally to the No. 21 defensive lineman instead of No. 20.
Waukesha (Wis.) Catholic Memorial offensive tackle Owen Strebig is no longer in the On300, but he still holds a 91 rating. Strebig is the No. 25 offensive tackle nationally and No. 2 prospect in Wisconsin. He was previously the No. 17 player at his position.
