Ohio State baseball commit Andrew Karhoff believes in what Bill Mosiello is building
AKRON – Ohio State head baseball coach Bill Mosiello and his coaching staff have made it a priority to recruit the state of Ohio as they look to build the Buckeyes into a Big Ten power.
Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban 2025 right-handed pitcher Andrew Karhoff is a player they have been prioritizing early on.
Karhoff ultimately committed to Ohio State on Jan. 22, 2023. While growing up a Buckeyes fan factored into his decision, he also liked the energy that Mosiello brought to Columbus.
“First of all, you know, it being where my parents went and everything, I kind of always have grown up in an Ohio State house,” Karhoff told Lettermen Row. “We’ve always gone down to Columbus to watch football games, basketball games, really anything. So that was really what got me at first.”
“And then when Coach Mo got hired and all the other staff members, it just seemed like the program was going in a new direction. That was really exciting to me. And really cool to see all these guys coming from big baseball schools and coming to Ohio State. So it kind of felt like the program was investing more, and that just made me really excited and made me want to be part of this.”
Additionally, Karhoff has a close relationship with pitching coach Sean Allen and assistant coach/recruiting coordinator Andrew See.
“Oh, it’s really good,” Karhoff said of those relationships. “I remember I was talking to Coach See a lot because he was recruiting guys. And then once we got closer to them offering me, I had a phone call with Coach Allen, and I remember it being really cool.

“He was talking to me about videos he had seen of me throwing and how I threw at a camp earlier. … It was actually a really good conversation … a long lasting one. So that was really cool. He’s a great baseball mind. So everything he has to say, obviously, has some merit to it, and it’s cool to listen to and it’s cool to hear from him.”
Karhoff believes that Mosiello, Allen, See and the rest of the Ohio State coaching staff can build the Buckeyes into both a Big Ten and College World Series contender.
“I think we can be a national powerhouse,” Karhoff said. “I think we can go to Omaha. I think we can win the Big Ten, get to regionals, super regionals — get to Omaha.
“I mean, Ohio State’s a huge brand. So it’s not like we’re a small school or anything, but it’s just getting northern baseball — like Big Ten baseball — back to where it should be. We have really talented athletes up here. It’s just about putting it all together and putting together a full complete season and getting it to where we should be.”
The 6-foot-3 and 220-pound Karhoff ranks as the No. 22 overall prospect in the state of Ohio in the 2025 class and the No. 8 right-handed pitcher in the state, according to Prep Baseball Report. He is also a standout basketball player for the Knights.
