Bryson Rodgers emotional about Ohio State offer, excited to visit campus
Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players and Ohio State coaches and staff members themselves. Today we’re chatting with Bryson Rodgers, a newly-offered receiver in the Class of 2023.
COLUMBUS — Anyone who follows recruiting is well aware of the dreaded dream school curse.
For players around the country, including four-star 2023 receiver Bryson Rodgers, there’s a school that just means more. When the offer from that school comes it feels different.
It could be the school that a player grew up watching on TV. For some, it’s the school that produced their favorite player or their football idol.
For Rodgers, it runs a little deeper.
Ohio State is the dream school because Ohio is home. Not was home but is home, even if he now lives in Zephyrhills (Fla.) where he attends Wiregrass Ranch High School.
“A lot of my family is still in Ohio,” Bryson Rodgers told Lettermen Row last month. “[Ohio State] is my dream school. I’ve always dreamed of playing for Ohio State.
“I take lots of trips back to Ohio to see family and Warren. I’m an Ohio boy at heart … for life.”
And now, after being offered by Brian Hartline last month, Rodgers has a chance to go back home. A real chance.
But he won’t rush into a decision, even if Ohio State is the dream school. There are almost 30 scholarship offers to sort through and there’s no reason to hurry. For now, it’s all about getting to know if the dream of a young receiver lines up with the best future for Bryson Rodgers.

What was it about Hartline that helped him connect with Rodgers? How did his Ohio-based family react when he landed that pivotal Ohio State offer? What is the plan for his first visit to see the Buckeyes as a highly-recruited prospect? How has the relationship with Kye Stokes helped Ohio State in his recruitment?
The country’s No. 39-ranked receiver talks about those things and more in the latest edition of Birminology from Lettermen Row.
