Are Buckeyes mixing in depth, rotating enough along defensive line?

COLUMBUS — Ohio State coach Ryan Day spent more time than usual in the defensive meeting rooms during the idle week. He wanted to be a part of the solutions from the loss to Oregon a few weeks ago. Pass rush, or lack thereof, was a topic of conversation. So was the rotation of those defensive linemen tasked with getting to the quarterback. Last week, Day spoke of the defensive staff being on the same page, having like minds with the common goal up front. When he was asked Tuesday during his weekly press conference about defensive line rotations, though, he and defensive coordinator Jim Knowles didn't exactly give similar answers when it comes to rotating along the defensive line to keep players fresh. Day wants rotation. Knowles said he defers to defensive line coach Larry Johnson. Whether that all equals three coaches on the same page is up for your own interpretation. But the snap counts from Saturday suggest that the rotations weren't as robust as maybe they could've been.
