Buckeyes hold off Nebraska in double overtime, keep NCAA tournament hopes alive

COLUMBUS – Ohio State was never able to land a knockout punch against the Cornhuskers but the Buckeyes did enough to earn the win in double overtime. The win against Nebraska also goes a long way in keeping their NCAA tournament hopes alive for another day.
Final score: Ohio State 116, Nebraska 114. Jake Diebler’s team improves to 17-13 on the season and 9-10 in Big Ten Conference play.
Junior guard Bruce Thornton led the way for the Buckeyes. He finished the game with 29 points and nine assists. Senior guard Micah Parrish and sophomore forward Devin Royal both finished the game with 22 points. Parrish added six rebounds and three assists while Royal had a team-high eight rebounds against Nebraska.

The Buckeyes other two other starters also finished in double figures. Freshman guard John Mobley Jr. had 20 points and three assists. Sophomore center Sean Stewart had 13 points and seven rebounds.
The Buckeyes only have on regular season games remaining before the Big Ten Tournament. Ohio State travels to Bloomington to face Indiana on March 8 in the regular season finale. The Buckeyes likely need to beat the Hoosiers to earn an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament in Jake Diebler’s first season at the helm.
