Buckeyes overcome slow start to beat Indiana State
COLUMBUS – Ohio State was back inside the Schottenstein Center on Sunday following a short break for the holidays. The Buckeyes overcame a slow start and picked up another important nonconference win.
Ohio State beat Indiana State 103-83 on Sunday afternoon, despite being up only five points at the break. The Buckeyes were without starters Meechie Johnson, who took a leave of absence from the team on Dec. 15, and Micah Parrish.
Bruce Thornton led all scorers with a season high 33 points for Ohio State. Two other Buckeyes starters were in double figures as well. Guard John Mobley Jr. finished with 11 while forward Devin Royal scored 13.
The Buckeyes had a few key contributors off the bench. Guard Ques Glover scored a season-high 15 points and center Aaron Bradshaw added 13 points as well.
Ohio State finished the game 34-of-61 from the field and 7-of-21 from three point range. The Buckeyes also won the turnover battle turning over Indiana State 19 times to just six turnovers themselves.

Ohio State is off for a few days before its next game, a home Big Ten matchup against Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans. The start of the new year brings some intriguing Big Ten matchups for the Buckeyes:
Jan. 3 vs. Michigan State
Jan. 6 at Minnesota
Jan. 9 vs. No. 9 Oregon
Jan. 14 at Wisconsin
Jan. 17 vs. Indiana
Jan. 21 at No. 21 Purdue
Jan. 27 vs. Iowa
Jan. 30 at Penn State
Ohio State already has a pair of wins over a ranked teams as early-season resume booster. The first came in the opener against Texas. The Buckeyes then upset a top-five Kentucky team on Dec. 21 to give Jake Diebler his first signature as a head coach.
The Buckeyes won their final game of 2024 on Sunday. Ohio State will look to start the new year on a positive note later this week when Michigan State comes to town.
