Buckeyes women's hoops beat Montana State, advance to second round of NCAA Tournament

COLUMBUS – Ohio State got off to a slow start on Friday afternoon but proved to be too much for the Bobcats in the second half.

Final Score: Ohio State 71, Montana State 51. The Buckeyes advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament where they’ll play the winner of No. 5 Tennessee vs No. 12 USF on Sunday afternoon.

Guard Taylor Thierry led Ohio State with 16 points. Thierry also had five rebounds and two assists to of along with her impressive scoring output.

Fellow guard Chance Gray was the star of the game, however. She finished with 15 points including three consecutive three-point shots coming out of halftime to give the Buckeyes a double-digit lead.

Forward Cotie McMahon had 15 points and six rebounds while point guard Jaloni Cambridge finished with 12 points. Cambridge also had six assists, six steals and five rebounds as she continues her stellar freshman campaign. Center Ajae Petty also had 11 points and seven rebounds to put all five of the Buckeyes starters in double-figures.

The only other Buckeye to score was forward Eboni Walker who had two points off the bench.
