Chat Wrap: Recapping Ohio State recruiting chat July 16
COLUMBUS — Ohio State recruiting is alive and well. Even if the recruiting calendar is in a dead period, there are still things to discuss, ask, ponder, evaluate and conclude.
Every Tuesday, Lettermen Row starts a chat thread on the Lettermen Lounge message board. As Tuesday ends, we recap some of the bigger conversations started by our subscribers.
From Buckeyeman 11: Who are the 2026 in state guys Ohio State is going after?
Mick Walker: Ohio State has offered nine in-state prospects in the 2026 class but I think the three to really know are:
Four-star Avon Lake (Ohio) offensive lineman Max Riley
Four-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban offensive tackle Sam Greer
Four-star Akron (Ohio) Archbishop Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill
All three are top, top targets
We wrote about all nine in-state prospects in Inside the Lettermen Lounge last week: https://www.on3.com/teams/ohio-stat…-storm-miller-ohio-state-football-recruiting/

Matt Parker: Mick got it above, but the big dog for sure is Elbert Hill. Top-rated cornerback in the 2026 cycle, I’ll have an update on his recruitment later this week!
From Ohio7715: Thoughts on Four-star Washington D.C. Riverdale Baptist offensive lineman Jayvon McFadden as a player? And him coming to Ohio State?
Mick Walker: As a player, I think he projects best as a guard but has the length to play tackle at the college level if necessary. When it comes to his recruitment, this is one that Matt and I disagree on as I still have him as in the class. I think there is some Eddrick Houston to this recruitment in the sense that McFadden seemingly has a decision timeline in his and Ohio State is now just waiting that out. He told me in June that he wants to commit before or early in his senior season.
Matt Parker: In my recent mock class, I had him OUT. Just a gut feeling, I get weird vibes right now. As a player, however, I think he projects pretty well as a guard. Athletic, powerful and smart.
From BAS: What’s your way-too-early Ohio State v Oregon score?
Mick Walker: Ohio State 27, Oregon 21
Matt Parker: 27-17, the Buckeyes.
