COLUMBUS — Ohio State recruiting is alive and well. Even if the recruiting calendar is about to turn to a dead period, there are still things to discuss, ask, ponder, evaluate and conclude.

Every Tuesday, Lettermen Row starts a recruiting chat thread in the Lettermen Lounge message board. As Tuesday ends, we recap some of the bigger conversations started by our subscribers.

From ItsUurf: What’s the feeling on David Sanders Jr.? Felt like a lot of confidence a few weeks ago that may have cooled slightly, though still seemingly OSU in the top two. You guys still predicting him in?

Matt Parker: I very tentatively have him in the class.

Wrote about his weekend visits here: https://www.on3.com/teams/ohio-stat…st-intel-david-sanders-jr-nebraska-tennessee/

Mick Walker: As of today, I still see him as in the class. Obviously, I think Ohio State would have rather seen him in Columbus than at Nebraska and Tennessee. However, if the Buckeyes can weather the storm. I think their pitch to David Sanders Jr. is still probably the best and most well-rounded. I don’t any of his other top three offer what Ohio State can off the field.

From Justin-Feels: Best guess for next 1-2 2026 commits?

MP: I think a couple of in-state guys are going to pop next in 2026, but it’s going to be a while. I wouldn’t be shocked if you saw one of these names commit: Elbert Hill, Jakob Weatherspoon, Victor Singleton, Max Riley or Storm Miller.

MW: I think Jaeden Ricketts would be my prediction for the next commit in 2026. Beyond that, I think Elbert Hill and Jakob Weatherspoon both make sense, Matt mentioned them as well. I could see Corbyn Fordham calling it this fall.

From TexasBuckeye13: How big of a miss was it not having some event last week even for 2026 kids?

MP: On a scale of 1-10, I’d probably rate it at a 6.5 truthfully. Ohio State could have gotten whoever it wanted on campus because it’s Ohio State and the more the program realizes that, the better. But as far as 2026 goes, the Buckeyes are in good standing with their top guys right now. I’d expect them to make the Western Michigan game in week two a big event just because it’s a prime-time game & OSU should thoroughly tattoo WMU.

MW: Truthfully, we won’t know the full impact until about a year from now when we see how the 2026 class shakes out. As of today, I think it is a noticeable miss but not a sizable one, if that makes sense. Ohio State certainly would have benefitted from getting guys on campus but as Mat said, they are in good standing with several top guys right now.

The question is could they have gotten in good standing with other top targets or grown their lead on other guys? I think so. That’s what makes it a miss to me. Just don’t want to be looking back a year from now when a top of the board guy commits elsewhere and know you only got him on campus once for his official visit.
