COLUMBUS — Ohio State recruiting never stops, neither do questions about Ohio State recruiting. The Buckeyes are preparing for a week full of recruiting with a bye week after the Oregon game.

Twenty-six commits fill Ohio State’s class, but the program is looking to add more. The Buckeyes are also working to fend off other programs from flipping their commitments.

The members at Lettermen Row have questions and we have answers. Let’s get into it.

From TexasBuckeye13: It seems like the Larry Johnson experience is finally going to be put down after this year. How does that impact our current or future recruits do you think? The lack of development over the last 4-5 year has been quite stunning.

Matt Parker: I think it would greatly impact recruiting, at first. The name Larry Johnson commands an incredible amount of respect on the recruiting trail. Kids know who he is and what he has done, high school coaches know the same. The hire to fill Johnson would have to be incredible and it wouldn’t shock me, should any coaching change happen after the season, if the hire was someone who Johnson knows and trusts. I wouldn’t be shocked if Ohio State found a way to keep Johnson in the building.

Mick Walker: It’s hard to say what the impact of Larry Johnson moving on would be on the recruiting trail because there are several variables in play, i.e. who replaces him. I do think it would have some impact but not a killer one on the trail. As for current roster, I think the core of this DL is gone after this season I don’t see the other guys leaving so that could be minimal.

From Bucks231: Any concern for London Merritt, as he was at an official visit at Colorado last weekend?

MP: Seems like it was a very impromptu visit and as of now, I don’t have any concerns. Merritt is supposed to be back for the Michigan game with the rest of the 2025 class.

MW: Matt and I actually talked about this on the phone last night. I don’t think there’s any reason for concern yet. Sounds like it was a last minute decision to visit Boulder.

From Zdog4307: Coolest place working in the recruiting industry has brought you?

MP: How does a two-parter work for you? The first answer would be on the sidelines at Ohio Stadium. The first game I ever went to because of this job was the 2022 season opener against Notre Dame. Being a kid from Columbus, that is something I will always remember for the rest of my life. The second answer would probably be the summer of 2023 when I went to Los Angeles for the Elite 11 and saw Julian Sayin, Air Noland, Dylan Raiola and a bunch of other QBs throw to Chris Henry Jr. Just crazy.

MW: There are several. Recency bias says Weddington from last week, that was an awesome environment and setting for high school football.

Going to Canton and the HOF for state championships is always awesome. Off the field, the On3 Elite Series in Nashville was epic.
