On3 Consensus Ranking: 43 overall, 6 QB, 1 Utah
On3 Ranking: 28 overall, 2 QB, 1 Utah
Hometown: Phoenix, Arizon
High School: Corner Canyon (Draper, Utah)
Scouting summary: “One of the more live-armed passers in the 2022 cycle. Generates considerable zip on the ball with the ability to drive throws downfield and from the far hash to the boundary. The ball pops out of his hand and comes in hot. Stretches the field vertically with his considerable arm strength. May have the most high-level, small window throws of any 2022 quarterback as a senior. At his best when he can sit back in the pocket and push the ball vertically …
Has light feet with average to above average mobility. Transferred from the Phoenix area to Utah powerhouse Corner Canyon for his senior season. Is putting up big passing numbers as a senior. Has a bit of a gunslinger mentality, leading to a higher interception total. Can miss read defenders, leading to picks. Showing some more rushing ability in the red zone as a senior. Put forth a strong showing at the Elite 11 Finals prior to his senior season.” – Charles Power, On3 director of scouting and rankings
How did Brown end up at Ohio State?
Devin Brown had been committed to USC for 360 days when the Trojans fired head coach Clay Helton in September. After more than a year with his college plan in place, Brown had to reshuffle his deck.
New schools came into the picture, quickly. Still, Devin Brown stayed committed to USC but decided to take an official visits to other schools. The Trojans weren’t moving quickly on a coach and he couldn’t wait too long to see how things unfolded.

He first checked out Ole Miss, then Texas and then finally, Ohio State. Brown made his first — and only — visit with the Buckeyes about one month after Ohio State offered him a scholarship in mid-October. That scholarship came about eight weeks after then 2022 commitment Quinn Ewers reclassified into the Class of 2021.
Brown didn’t know what to expect when he visited Ohio State. He had heard all the rumors and reports of the Buckeyes quarterback depth but believed eventual roster turnover would sort itself out.
“There’s going to be competition at every school and I’m not scared to compete,” Brown said. “With the new transfer portal rules and guys not wanting to sit out, everything is going to be so different.”
Devin Brown was right and bet on himself and picked the Buckeyes. He will enroll at Ohio State in January.
