COLUMBUS — Florida 2023 cornerback prospect Dijon Johnson has committed to Ohio State.

The four-star defensive back from Wharton (Tampa, Fla.) High School announced his intentions on his social media channels just moments ago. His choice comes on the heels of a two-day visit with the Buckeyes in Columbus.

Dijon Johnson has been one of the country’s hottest recruits in the first few months of 2022. He’s added nearly 20 offers since January 1. Ohio State offered toward the end of January, an offer from one of his long-held “dream schools.”

Seeing that dream come true this weekend was all it took for Johnson know the Buckeyes were the program for him.

“Growing up, I played running back and I looked up to Eddie George,” Johnson told On3.com earlier this spring. “I watched a lot of his film and I watched a lot of Ohio State. Now coach [Tony] Alford and coach [Tim] Walton are recruiting me and I am planning to visit up there in April.”

He made that trip from Florida on April 15. The impact of the trip was clear on Johnson. He tweeted about his time with the Buckeyes before even reaching the airport following the Ohio State spring game.

“[I] Had an amazing visit this past week at The Ohio State University,” Johnson wrote. “Lots of valuable conversations in the building. [I] really enjoyed my time. I’ll be back soon.”

When Dijon Johnson arrives back in Columbus for his next visit, he’ll do so as a Buckeyes commitment. Johnson is the ninth commitment for Ohio State in its 2023 recruiting class. He is the third player from Florida to join the fray for Ryan Day and Mark Pantoni this cycle. Florida was one of the areas that Ohio State was aiming to hit hard in 2023. It’s been so far, so good for the Buckeyes in that pursuit.

Ohio State is likely to sign three cornerbacks in this cycle. Johnson is one of 11 cornerbacks that Tim Walton and the Buckeyes have offered to this point for this year’s class.

Dijon Johnson talked about his decision — with a special guest appearance from close-friend and Ohio State commitment Bryson Rodgers — with Lettermen Row. Check out the video below.
