Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help you navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players themselves. Birminology shows who the young men being recruited by Ohio State truly are — by talking to them. Today’s guest: 2021 Buckeyes running back target Donovan Edwards.

It’s not easy to leave the state of Michigan to go play college football at Ohio State.

But that’s exactly what Donovan Edwards, the nation’s fourth-ranked 2021 tailback, is considering. The Buckeyes have been at or near the top of the list for the 5-foot-11, 190-pound soon-to-be junior for a while, thanks primarily to his relationship with running backs coach Tony Alford and his repeated trips to Ohio State’s campus.

There are a number of schools in the mix for Edwards, but there’s a sense that this recruitment is likely to turn into a good, old-fashioned Ohio State versus Michigan battle. That’s why it’s so important that Michigan’s fourth-ranked 2021 prospect, sees exactly what the Buckeyes have to offer as much as he can. He saw some glimpses during his late November visit when he watched Ohio State score 62 points against Michigan’s top-ranked defense.

“The environment was incredible,” he told Lettermen Row in November. “I knew it was going to be a hype game, but I didn’t know it was going to be like that. It was amazing.”
