First thoughts: Buckeyes start slow, easily beat Akron in opener

COLUMBUS — If you were hoping to see a complete, finished product from this edition of the Ohio State football team, better luck next year. The Buckeyes started this season with a sloppy showing all around. But the talent on display is easy to see. The potential is obvious. And the Buckeyes were clearly working out some kinks in the operation in the opener against Akron. Good news: it was against Akron. Ohio State didn't need to be anywhere near its best to pick apart the Zips, rack up highlights and leave no doubt that it would start 1-0 on this highly-anticipated season.
