Jack Miller nearing return to Buckeyes after pleading guilty to reduced charge
COLUMBUS — Jack Miller is now cleared to return to Ohio State.
The reserve quarterback had missed the previous two weeks for the Buckeyes following an arrest for a charge of operative a vehicle under the influence. But after that was dropped to a misdemeanor and Miller entered a guilty plea for reckless operation, the program lifted his indefinite suspension.
The redshirt freshman has been the third-string option for the Buckeyes all season when available. But the former four-star could again provide some security and knowledge of the offense if an emergency situation presented itself behind Heisman Trophy candidate C.J. Stroud and backup Kyle McCord on Saturday in a huge Big Ten matchup against Michigan State.
“We’re going to take a real, hard look at that today,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said on Thursday. “Just getting the final details of it, but it looks like here this afternoon we’re going to reinstate him back on the team.”
Miller was disciplined right away by the program and removed from the roster ahead of a trip to Nebraska two weeks ago following the arrest by the Ohio State Highway Patrol. While the case played out, Day elected not to establish a public timeline for Miller’s return to the roster until more information was gathered and a potential resolution was reached.

With that out of the way and Miller paying just a fine of $150, the Scottsdale, Ariz., native will be back on the sideline for the Buckeyes against the Spartans. He has appeared in just four games for Ohio State so far this season, completing 7 of 14 passes for 101 yards after coming up short in the three-man quarterback battle during training camp.
After a two-week absence, though, Jack Miller will again have a chance to be the third option for the Buckeyes down the stretch.
