Kyle McCord, state title secured, ready for next step with Ohio State
Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players and Ohio State coaches and staff members themselves. This week’s edition visits with Kyle McCord as he readies for his final month as a high school student ahead of early-enrollment at Ohio State.
Kyle McCord committed to play for Ohio State in April of 2019 but he knew the Buckeyes were the program he wanted to be a part of from the first time he stepped foot on campus in Columbus in February of that year.
“I knew I was going to go to Ohio State since February,†McCord told Lettermen Row when he committed. “I just didn’t say anything. I don’t think there’s a better situation than the one that’s available for me at Ohio State.â€
A lot has changed since his verbal pledge almost 18 months ago. His future quarterbacks coach changed as Mike Yurcich gave way to Corey Dennis –Â a move that McCord lauded — this past January.
“I was really excited. Coach Dennis has been huge in the process for me,” McCord said. “We started building our relationship last February on my first visit, and he was a big factor in why I committed a few months later. He has great energy and great knowledge of the game. We talk multiple times a week, and I’m extremely excited to work with him.â€
