Lettermen Row’s observations of Porter
Following the game, Lettermen Row wrote this about Porter’s performance in our ‘On the Road’ story.
“Simply put, four-star Ohio State wide receiver commit Quincy Porter is a stud. Not only is Porter an athletic freak but he is also a tireless worker. Porter was the only skilled player on the field while the Bergen Catholic specialists were warming up. He was getting in extra routes on air before the game with an assistant coach. Additionally, Porter was always one of the first guys on the Bergen Catholic bench after an offensive drive because he wanted to watch film on how the possession went. One of the Bergen Catholic coaches told Lettermen Row after the game that Porter is on the field for at least 15 minutes after every practice going through extra drills.”
“As for Porter’s on field performance, he showed a lot of the skills that make him stand out on film. He had a 56-yard touchdown reception on a slug-go route where he got the defender to bite on the slate then sprinted past him for a walk-in touchdown. He also showed some plenty of twitchiness and short area quickness on the several screen passes that Bergen Catholic threw him. With a year or two of development under Brian Hartline, who was in attendance on Friday night, the sky’s the limit for Porter at Ohio State”
