Lettermen Row joins On3
COLUMBUS — The next step in Ohio State coverage is here.
After three years of covering the Buckeyes as an independent media company, I’m thrilled to announce that Lettermen Row is joining the new national network, On3.
When we launched our site in June of 2018, we did so with the idea that a website run by professional, respected journalists combined with knowledgeable, experienced athletes would give fans a unique place to follow the Buckeyes like never before.
We became one of the most trusted voices in Ohio State athletics — not just because we hired proven veterans like Austin Ward and Jeremy Birmingham, but because those two were consistent, unwavering stewards of our brand and our mission. They bought into the vision and gave everything they had. So did Nick Clarkson in that first year and Spencer Holbrook since.
We love what we do and how we do it. Our success is a direct result of that passion, and we have always understood that’s what Ohio State fans expect and deserve given their own fierce passion for the program.
To say that our first three seasons in business have been eventful is an understatement.
We’ve published over 6,000 articles and 2,300 independently created, self-produced videos. There have been countless social media posts on everything from the Urban Meyer saga, the termination of Zach Smith and subsequent hiring of Brian Hartline, the transition from Meyer to Ryan Day, the Justin Fields transfer, two College Football Playoff appearances, the cancellation and reinstatement of a football season due to Covid-19 and so much more.
The best part about that? We never stopped believing in our original mission and stayed true to who we wanted to be.
But we are just getting started.
When Shannon Terry approached me about the new network he was building called On3, I was apprehensive. We had built a successful independent website and were growing at a steady, sustainable pace.
However, after fully understanding Terry’s vision for On3 along with his track record of success in this space (he founded Rivals.com and 247Sports.com) I was sold.
We had to be a part of it.
Joining On3 will be a win for Lettermen Row and our audience. The benefits of being part of a national network with iconic sites like Kentucky Sports Radio — with many others to be announced soon — will be significant by itself. But add in iconic college football voices like Ivan Maisel and Chad Simmons and a state-of-the-art recruiting database and the value goes up exponentially.
So what’s going to change now that we’re part of a national college football network?
Not much.
We are dedicated to providing the same great coverage of the Ohio State Buckeyes. That includes an emphasis on breaking news, in-depth features, videos, podcasts and analysis from former players. In the coming weeks, we will roll out a new website design with fewer advertisements and a significantly improved user experience.
In addition, we will also introduce a subscription product called Lettermen Row Plus. For a minimal monthly fee, Lettermen Row Plus members will have access to our exclusive message board and select member-only content from Austin, Birm, Spencer, Zack Carpenter, Tim May and others. We will provide more information on this soon.
If you’ve watched a Lettermen Row video on YouTube, read an article, downloaded our app, followed us on social media, attended a live event at Roosters or Urban’s Pint House, had #RoadBeers with the guys or purchased merchandise, you’ve had a small part in our success. I can’t thank you enough.
Lettermen Row wouldn’t be possible without the generous support of several key sponsors, including George Kauffman, Nicole Cox, Mary Preece and Ken Habegger. Thank you.
See you at training camp in four days as we all take the next step in Ohio State coverage together.
