Buckeyes stand tall at the goal for third straight game
11/2/2024, 3:20:58 PMA 33 yard run by Penn State tight end got the Nittany Lions down to the Ohio State 3-yard line but they did not get much closer. After three straight runs of one yard or less, the Nittany Lions took to the air on 4th-and-goal but Drew Allar was unable to complete the pass to wide receiver Kahlil Dinkins. The Ohio State forces a turn over on downs and maintains a 20-13 lead.
Jayden Fielding makes second field goal, Ohio State leads 20-13
11/2/2024, 2:54:11 PMOhio State’s first drive of the first drive of the fourth quarter ends with a 39-yard field by Jayden Fielding to extend the Buckeyes lead 20-13. Will Howard led the Ohio State offense down to the Penn State 21-yard line but they were unable to get into the end-zone.
Back-to-back sacks helps Ohio State defense force a punt
11/2/2024, 2:38:10 PMPenn State gained 15 yards on the first two plays of its second drive of the third quarter but back-to-back sacks by the Ohio State stopped the Nittany Lions’ momentum. Ohio State linebacker Cody Simon sacked Drew Allar for a loss of nine on 2nd-and-9. Then on 3rd-and-18, defensive ends J.T. Tuimoloau and Kenyatta Jackson sack Allar again to force a punt.
Nittany Lions answer with field goal of their own, trail 17-13

Ohio State starts second half with field goal, leads 17-10
11/2/2024, 2:13:12 PMThe Buckeyes went 47 yards on eight plays to start to second half but Ryan Day elects to kick a field goal after Will Howard is ruled down prior to throwing the ball on 3rd down from the. Kicker Jayden Fielding hits from 46 yards out, his season long, and Ohio State extends its lead to 17-10.
Davison Igbinosun picks off Drew Allar in the end-zone
11/2/2024, 1:44:28 PMPenn State got the ball down to the Ohio State 3-yard line but the Buckeyes were able to keep the Nittany Lions off the score board. On 1st-and-goal, Quarterback Drew Allar threw the ball to wide receiver Tre Wallace in the back corner of the end-zone but he was unable to haul it in.
After review it was determined that Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun caught the ball off of Wallace’s chest and got a foot down for an interception. Ohio State leads Penn State 14-10 at the half.
Will Howard fumbles the ball through the end-zone, Penn State ball
11/2/2024, 1:43:54 PMOn 1st-and-10 from the Penn State 13-yard line Will Howard takes the ball down the left side line for 13 yards and it was called a touchdown on the field. After review, however, it is ruled that Howard fumbled the ball through the end-zone and the call is overturned resulting in a touchback. Penn State ball at their own 20-yard line.
Ohio State converts 4th down near midfield
11/2/2024, 1:20:26 PMOhio State head coach Ryan Day elected to go for it on 4th-and-1 from the Penn State 49-yard line. Will Howard evaded Penn State defensive end Adbul Carter on the play before finding tight end Jelani Thurman for 19 yard down to the Penn State 30-yard line.
Brandon Inniss touchdown, Ohio State takes 14-10 lead
11/2/2024, 1:04:33 PMAn unsportsmanlike conduct penalty kept the Ohio State drive alive. Will Howard hit running back TreVeyon Henderson for a 20 yard gain down to the Penn State 22-yard on the next 3rd down. Then two plays later Howard found wide receiver Brandon Inniss for a 21-yard touchdown. Ohio State 14, Penn State 10 with 11:54 left in the second quarter.

Lee Corso picks Ohio State on College GameDay

Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstriet also picked the Buckeyes while Pat McAfee and guest picker Keegan-Michael Key backed the Nittany Lions.
Zen Michalski is out
11/2/2024, 12:02:46 PMOhio State will be without starting left tackle Zen Michalski after suffering an injury against Nebraska. Now with Michalski out, starting left guard Donovan Jackson will slide over to the left tackle spot, while redshirt sophomore Carson Hinzman will take Jackson’s role at left guard. Hinzman started 12 games for the Buckeyes at center in 2023.
