Ohio State football recruiting can be a wild ride full of twists and turns as recruits from all over the country maneuver their way to signing day. Lettermen Row is here to help navigate the tumultuous roads by getting to the heart of the matter with the young football players and Ohio State coaches and staff members themselves. Today we’re talking with Mark Fletcher, who has just announced his college decision.

COLUMBUS — The first visit to Ohio State was everything Mark Fletcher imagined it would be.

That trip happened over the weekend of April 2. It was a visit that took a few months of setting up for Fletcher, who the Buckeyes began recruiting earnestly in January. Ohio State running backs coach Tony Alford wasted no time in making Mark Fletcher a priority. Now, just a few months after that first talk, the 6-foot-1, 225-pound tailback has committed to the Buckeyes.

“He just recruited me very well,” Fletcher told Lettermen Row. “I could just tell everything was authentic. I hadn’t even been to Columbus before but I already knew Ohio State was going to be the one.”

The Buckeyes have offered eight running backs in the current recruiting cycle. Fletcher is the first of what Ohio State hopes is a two-man haul at the position.

What about Ohio State made it feel so much like home? How much he and Tony Alford develop so strong of a relationship so quickly? How comfortable is Mark Fletcher recruiting other Floridians to Ohio State? What does he think about the potential for a second running back in the Class of 2023?

The latest Buckeyes committments talks about those things and more in the latest edition of Birminology from Lettermen Row.
