COLUMBUS — If history repeats itself, maybe this is the best thing for Ohio State.

The final AP Poll of the 2023 college football season has been released. The Buckeyes checked in at No. 10, their lowest finish since 2013 when they finished No. 12.

Following that No. 12 finish in 2013, when they lost to Clemson in an embarrassing Orange Bowl, the Buckeyes went into the offseason with plenty of motivation and won the national championship with a new starting quarterback the next season.

This time around, the Buckeyes are No. 10 in the final AP Poll after an embarrassing Cotton Bowl. They’ll enter next season with plenty of motivation and a new starting quarterback.

Of course, this offseason will be even longer — and even more jam-packed with motivation for Ohio State. Its biggest rival Michigan is the national champion after hoisting the title trophy Monday night in Houston. The Wolverines finished the year No. 1 and received every first-place vote. Washington, Texas, Georgia and Alabama rounded out the top five.
