Scarlet Sunrise: Buckeyes lose to Cincinnati in charity exhibition game
COLUMBUS — Ohio State ‘opened’ its college hoops season on Friday night. Well, kind of.
The Buckeyes played in a charity exhibition at Cincinnati on Friday. Good thing it was just an exhibition, because they lost to the Bearcats 80-62. Meechie Johnson and Micah Parrish each had 11 points for the Buckeyes, who tried out various lineups and made sure to play the entire roster against Cincinnati.
Sean Stewart and Bruce Thornton each had nine points.
The Buckeyes were only down 10 at the half but did trail by as many as 27 at one point. It wasn’t a pretty game of basketball for Ohio State.
Of note: Duke transfer power forward Aaron Bradshaw did not play for the Buckeyes. He could play soon, though.
Report: Buckeyes RB Quinshon Judkins dealing with hand injury, not expected to miss time
According to On3 national college football reporter Pete Nakos, Buckeyes tailback Quinshon Judkins is dealing with a hand injury, which forced him to undergo a procedure during the idle week.
Ohio State running back Quinshon Judkins underwent a hand procedure this week, multiple sources tell On3. The former Ole Miss transfer is not expected to miss any playing time with the Buckeyes on their bye week.
Pete Nakos, On3
The report from Nakos lines up with what Lettermen Row had indicated inside the Lettermen Lounge message board last week; Judkins was dealing with the hand issue prior to the road trip to Oregon last weekend. He had just 23 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown, but he also had a critical fumble for the Buckeyes that led to a Ducks touchdown.
The hand issue could be what led to the fumble.
The good news: Lettermen Row sources indicated that Judkins was an active participant in Buckeyes practice late this week. He was wearing a brace, but he was practicing with the team, a good sign that Nakos’ report that Judkins isn’t expected to miss time is in fact accurate.
