COLUMBUS — Ohio State guard Justice Sueing is coming back to play a final college basketball season.

But right now, he’s not sure where that will happen.

The Buckeyes starting combo player will return to college basketball next season. Jon Rothstein from CBS Sports was first report. Sueing’s desination? He hasn’t made his mind up on that yet.

Sueing started two seasons ago and was slated to be a major piece of the puzzle for the Buckeyes last year before an injury forced him out of all but two games.

The Buckeyes will gladly take him back on their roster next winter. He averaged 10.7 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game during his last full season at Ohio State before the injury. Sueing was supposed to be a starter for a Buckeyes team that had pieces to make a deep NCAA Tournament run.

When the injury forced him out of action, Chris Holtmann and the Buckeyes lost a major piece — and had to find a way to replace his production they expected to have. Instead of having an elite roster, the Buckeyes were shorthanded for much of the season.

“I think the injuries played a major role,” Holtmann said directly following the NCAA Tournament exit last month. “We didn’t have the team we anticipated having. But I was really proud of our last week, really.”

If Sueing chooses to return to Ohio State for his final season, he will be the featured offensive weapon, especially after the Buckeyes lost E.J. Liddell to the NBA draft and may lose Malaki Branham, who declared for the draft and still could come back, although he is projected to be a first-round pick.

Or Sueing could leave the Ohio State hoops program and pursue a final year elsewhere. He was a star at the beginning of his career at California in the Pac 12. And he had the potential to be a star last season for the Buckeyes before his injury.

Either way, Sueing has decided he will return to college basketball for one more season. Where it will be, he hasn’t decided.

Ohio State has plenty to gain if he picks to return to Columbus — and plenty to lose if he doesn’t.
