Status of two Buckeyes contributors still uncertain ahead of Michigan showdown

COLUMBUS — Ohio State has a chance to get back to full strength for one of the biggest games of the season.
Meechie Johnson and Eugene Brown will both be game-time decisions for the Buckeyes rivalry clash at Michigan on Saturday evening. Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann confirmed that on Friday during a preview press conference.
Brown has missed the last two games with a foot issue, while Johnson missed the closing minutes of the loss to Rutgers.
Johnson suffered the injury in the last-minute loss at Rutgers on Wednesday. The second-year guard appeared to roll his ankle midway through the second half and did not return to action. He is averaging six points per game in 17 games played this season, and he has become one of the primary ball-handlers on a team that lacks point-guard play outside of starter Jamari Wheeler.
Brown, meanwhile, has battled a foot injury that has kept him sidelined for each of the last two Ohio State games. He has become a key cog off the bench for the Buckeyes, and his reinsertion in the lineup will certainly be welcomed by Holtmann and the coaching staff.

Ohio State has had trouble with injury luck all season, as Seth Towns was declared out for the rest of the year last week, Justice Sueing hasn’t played a game this winter and other key players have missed time at different points.
The Buckeyes need to stay healthy. They need both Johnson and Brown down the stretch of the regular season to set themselves up for Big Ten Tournament — and March Madness — success.
And they might just have both of them available for the road rivalry game on Saturday.
Up next for Buckeyes
Ohio State will travel to Michigan on Saturday evening for a 6 p.m. tipoff at the Crisler Center. That game can be viewed on ESPN.
The Buckeyes will play the Wolverines twice in the final few weeks of the season, once in Ann Arbor and once in Columbus, a rematch that will end the regular season on March 6.
