Four-star forward Scotty Middleton commits to Ohio State
COLUMBUS — Ohio State picked up its second major commitment in as many days on Sunday: Scotty Middleton has committed to the Buckeyes.
The four-star Sunrise Christian (Miami, Florida) forward chose Ohio State over Seton Hall, UConn, Kansas, Texas A&M and others. Middleton becomes the first small forward to commit to Ohio State and is the fourth member in the Buckeyes 2023 haul.
Scotty Middleton is the No. 47 overall prospect and the No. 3 player in Kansas according to the On3 Consensus Rankings.
Middleton joins Devin Royal, George Washington III and Austin Parks in the Buckeyes 2023 class, which ranks twenty-second nationally and third in the Big Ten. Ohio State trails only Michigan State and Rutgers in the conference.

Ohio State and Middleton have been tied to one another for a while now as coach Chris Holtmann extended an offer to Middleton in September 2021. According to On3 National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw, the relationship between the Buckeyes and Middleton has flourished from the early onset of his recruitment and paved the way for his decision.
Those around the situation say assistant coach Jake Deibler did a good job connecting with Middleton early and building a comfort level. This official visit was also the only one he took during the season. The four-star was able to see game day and get a feel for the atmosphere, especially during the Michigan game.

The 6-foot-7, 175-pound is highly-skilled in defensive situations and has the ability to become a lockdown defender on the floor. More on his on-court abilities from his official scouting report via On3.
Scotty Middleton is a versatile defender. He has the length and motor to guard on or off the ball and the size to defend up a lineup. With his feet set, Middleton can knock down a jump shot and is excellent in transition, switching ends quickly. He will need to continue tightening his ball skills and shooting off the bounce, but his motor keeps him productive.
