Buckeyes reserve center Austin Parks enters transfer portal

COLUMBUS — Ohio State reserve center Austin Parks hasn’t had the impact he was hoping to have during his career with the Buckeyes.
The St. Mary’s native will now test the transfer portal waters and look elsewhere to find an impact for the rest of his college hoops career.
Parks announced on social media Tuesday that he’ll enter the NCAA Transfer Portal after three seasons in Columbus. Parks averaged 1.3 points per game, 0.9 rebounds per game and 0.3 assists per game this season. He appeared in 24 career games across two seasons with the Buckeyes.
“I’d like to thank Ohio State, Coach Diebler and every assistant, teammate and fan of the scarlet and gray for allowing me to be a part of this prestigious program over the last two years. I’ve been taught so many life lessons, formed life-long friendships and am forever thankful for my time in Columbus. I am choosing to enter the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining, and am looking forward to finding my last stop to call home.”

The 6-foot-10, 260-pound big man was the No. 7 rated Ohio prospect in his recruiting class, according to On3. He chose the Buckeyes ultimately over Indiana and West Virginia during his recruitment, committing to now-former Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann. He also received offers from Michigan State, Illinois, Cincinnati and others.
