COLUMBUS — Ohio State forward Sean Stewart entered the NCAA Transfer Portal Tuesday night after one season with the Buckeyes. Tuesday was the final day for college basketball players to enter the portal.

He was initially at Duke.

Stewart was a five-star prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, finishing the cycle as the No. 17 overall player in his class, the No. 3 power forward and the No. 2 player in the state of Florida.

Things didn’t work out for Stewart at Duke, so he found a new home: Ohio State.

With the Buckeyes, Stewart played in 30 games, averaging 5.7 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game. He started plenty of games for the Buckeyes and was a key piece that was set to return for a revamped roster that has been overhauled under now-second-year coach Jake Diebler.

But Stewart is now electing to find a new home rather than running it back with the Buckeyes. He’ll be on his third school in as many years next year.

After just one season at Ohio State, Sean Stewart is entering the transfer portal.

Head coach Jake Diebler and the Ohio State coaching staff have been busy the past few weeks trying to retool their roster via the NCAA Transfer Portal. The Buckeyes already have three commitments: former Indiana guard Gabe Cupps, former Wright State forward Brandon Noel and former Santa Clara center Christoph Tilly.

The talented Ohio State roster returns Second-team All-Big Ten point guard Bruce Thornton, forward Devin Royal and star freshman guard John Mobley Jr. The Buckeyes are still looking to add one more prospects out of the Transfer Portal, preferably a wing.

Ohio State also signed a pair of top-100 prospects in the 2025 class. Four-star Link Academy (Mo.) power forward A’Mare Bynum and four-star Cleveland (Ohio) Richmond Heights shooting guard Dorian Jones both have the potential to play as freshman for the Buckeyes.

Now with Stewart on the way out, Ohio State will have another roster spot to fill.
