COLUMBUS — Ohio State opened its pivotal three-game home stretch in blowout fashion.

Yes, the Buckeyes are at home for three straight games, a stretch that might decide whether this team makes the NCAA Tournament next month. The first of the three was emphatic for the Buckeyes; they beat Washington 93-69 on Wednesday night ahead of a massive showdown this weekend against rival Michigan, which is at the top of the Big Ten standings.

Freshman guard John Mobley Jr. and guard Micah Parrish led Ohio State with 21 points each. Bruce Thornton had 17 in the win, while Aaron Bradshaw had 12 from his post at center.

The Buckeyes are back in action against Michigan on Sunday inside the Schottenstien Center. Jake Diebler’s squad in the middle of a three-game homestand, which started Wednesday with that win over the Huskies.

Ohio State then hosts Michigan, which current ranks as No. 24 in the AP Top-25, on Feb. 16 and Northwestern on Feb. 20. After that the Buckeyes hit the road for their lone west coast swing of the season. They’ll play at UCLA on Feb. 23 then at USC on Feb. 26 to wrap up the month of February.

The Buckeyes will close out the season with a home game against Nebraska on March 4 and a road trip to Indiana on March 8.

Win a handful of those games and the Buckeyes’ NCAA Tournament resume will be solidified. Drop too many and the Buckeyes will be on the bubble as Diebler pushes for an NCAA tournament berth in his first season as a head coach.
