Where Buckeyes are projected in latest College Football Playoff predictions after loss to Michigan

COLUMBUS — Ohio State delivered an all-time rivalry flop in the home loss to a bad Michigan team on Saturday. That loss will sting forever, no matter what happens moving forward.
But the reality is that the Buckeyes resume is still good from a College Football Playoff standpoint, and the consensus is that this team will still host a game in the CFP next month.
Lettermen Row combed through the college football ecosystem and found some of the bowl projections, where experts are expecting the Buckeyes to finish the season and the potential matchups in the College Football Playoff. Let’s break them down.
On3 projections
On3’s Ari Wasserman has the Buckeyes making the CFP, even after losing to Michigan. He has Ohio State in the field and hosting a first-round playoff game.
Here is where he sees the Buckeyes landing in the bracket:
No. 9 Tennessee at No. 8 Ohio State (winner faces No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl)
Here’s what Ari said about the Buckeyes:
Ohio State is still reeling from a shocking 13-10 loss to Michigan in its regular-season finale. There are questions about Ryan Day and his inability to win a rivalry game. But the Buckeyes are 10-2 and have wins over two other teams who will make the Playoff field in Penn State and Indiana. Ohio State is firmly in the CFP.

Ari’s show partner, Andy Staples, also has Ohio State in the CFP despite its terrible loss. His projection:
No. 9 Tennessee at No. 8 Ohio State (winner faces No. 1 Oregon in the Rose Bowl)
Here’s what Staples has to say about the Buckeyes:
As embarrassing as the loss to Michigan was, Ohio State has two wins (one on the road) against teams that are going to make the CFP (Penn State and Indiana). That’s probably good enough to get a home game.

CBS Sports’ CFP projection features Ohio State
CBS Sports expert Jerry Palm actually has Ohio State as the No. 8 seed in his latest CFP rankings. He has the Buckeyes hosting a first-round matchup against No. 9 seed Tennessee.
Palm has the Buckeyes and Volunteers squaring off for the right to face No. 1 seed Oregon in the Rose Bowl.

The Athletic CFP projection
The folks at The Athletic have the Buckeyes as the No. 7 seed in the bracket and hosting a CFP game in the Horseshoe against No. 10 seed Indiana.
