Buckeyes set date for 'spring showcase' to end spring practice
COLUMBUS — Ohio State is beginning to prepare to defend its national championship. The Buckeyes have officially made plans for spring football practice.
Practices will begin after the university’s spring break, which is March 10-14. So spring practice inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center will begin on March 17 and wrap up with a ‘spring showcase’ on April 12. The program is not calling it a ‘spring game.’
From the university release:
The 15 days of spring football practice will commence Monday, March 17 and run for the next four weeks, through April 12, the date selected for the football program’s Spring Showcase, presented by Union Home Mortgage, event. Details about the day, including ticket information, are still to be determined.
Ohio State is coming off a 16-game season and a national title win, which featured a home College Football Playoff game, the Rose Bowl, the Cotton Bowl and the national championship game. With the longer season, Buckeyes coach Ryan Day said the program would need to reevaluate how it was going to operate its spring football.
Now those plans seem to be coming together, as the spring showcase has been announced. So has the start of spring practice.
