Arvell Reese using effort, preparation to earn role for Buckeyes defense
COLUMBUS — Ohio State coach Ryan Day was candid Tuesday in the way he described the performance he saw from second-year linebacker Arvell Reese. "Well, the way that Arvell played, he deserves more reps," Day said. It doesn't get much more crystal-clear than the head coach saying that. Expect Reese to play more this week. But the play on the field isn't what really caught the eye of Day, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles and linebackers coach James Laurinaitis during the last couple of weeks. No, it's actually been Reese's preparation for the season-opening win over Akron that gave him the avenue to wow his coaches in the first game -- and springboard him into even more playing time.
