Buckeyes 'really proud' of offseason progress from 'tough as sh*t' Bennett Christian
Ohio State tight end Bennett Christian grew up in a football household. He had no choice but to be tough. His dad played defensive end at Tennessee. His uncle played at Penn State. And with two older brothers constantly wrestling him, Christian learned to be tough, to throw a punch, to fight back. "That's what I grew up in: a physical, hard-nosed football family," he told Lettermen Row after practice Tuesday. "My dad put it into me, he was a really physical defensive end. And me and my brother's always wrestling. I've grown up and that's all I know is hitting people. I put that into my football career at high school and brought it to college." Christian was punched, hit, fought hard enough as a kid to grow tough. And he got good enough at hitting people and 'throwing punches' that he landed at Ohio State after a career at Allatoona High in Georgia.
