COLUMBUS — A potentially heated competition on the Ohio State offensive line will have to wait.

At least for the rest of spring, the Buckeyes will be working without one blocker with starting experience and another who was generating buzz as a future first-team option.

Former starting guard Harry Miller has been ruled out for camp as he recovers from a knee injury, and rising talent Josh Fryar is also recovering from a leg issue as part of a double-digit list of Buckeyes who won’t be active participants during practices in March or April.

“We have 10 guys who are unavailable this spring for different reasons,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said on Tuesday at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. “We kind of keep it with the list, and there’s different reasons for everybody. But once we get done with the spring, we’ll kind of reevaluate everybody in that area.”

But the end of camp, that might mean the offensive line has already been settled as Donovan Jackson emerges at guard after Paris Johnson moved to left tackle. But the Buckeyes also view these early workouts as just an extension of training camp in August and not a deadline for decisions, which leaves open the possibility that a position battle could still materialize for Fryar or potentially Miller.

Either way, they aren’t the only Ohio State players in that situation right now. And with tight end Mitch Rossi, defensive end Tyler Friday and safety Lathan Ransom also out, they also aren’t the only Buckeyes with front-line experience currently held out of action.

At this point, this is the full list of unavailable Buckeyes for spring camp:

  • LB Ryan Batsch
  • RB Marcus Crowley
  • SAF Jantzen Dunn
  • DE Tyler Friday
  • OL Josh Fryar
  • LB Cade Kacherski
  • OL Harry Miller
  • SAF Lathan Ransom
  • TE Mitch Rossi
  • DL Jacolbe Cowan
