COLUMBUS — Ohio State freshman wide receiver Jeremiah Smith is on pace to set the Buckeyes freshmen record books on fire, completely ready to rewrite them. But even the former five-star, top overall prospect from his recruiting class isn't immune to learning moments in his first season with the Buckeyes. Prime example: Saturday afternoon, when he was targeted on a deep ball from senior quarterback Will Howard. Smith was covered well, and a Marshall defender picked off the pass. It was Howard's first interception of the season, but Smith won't let Howard shoulder the blame for that pick. No, Smith is letting everyone know that he was at fault for the offense's first turnover of the season.
