Buckeyes defense knows it must be better, even after blowout win

COLUMBUS — Ohio State did its weekly post-win routine on Sunday, releasing to the public its players of the game from its win over Marshall. The Buckeyes named two standouts from the offensive side of the ball and a quality performer on special teams. What was notably missing, though, was a lack of a defensive player of the game announcement. The Buckeyes had nothing to say about that side of the ball from a 49-14 win in which they forced eight Marshall punts and allowed just 61 total yards in the second half. When asked about a lack of a defensive player of the game Tuesday, defensive coordinator Jim Knowles had a simple answer that set the tone: the defensive performance was not good enough.
