EAST LANSING — Ohio State encounters its first road test of the 2022 season this afternoon as the Buckeyes travel north to face the Michigan State Spartans. Michigan State is coming off a 27-13 loss at Maryland, which dropped the Spartans to 2-3 on the year and 0-2 in the Big Ten.
Ohio State has won six consecutive games against Michigan State, including a 56-7 win last season in Columbus and a 52-12 victory in East Lansing in 2020.

FINAL: Ohio State defeats Michigan State 49-20
Ohio State went on the road for the first time this season and dominated Michigan State 49-20. C.J. Stroud was 21-of-26 passing for 361 yards, six touchdowns and one interception. TreVeyon Henderson rushed 19 times for 118 yards and one touchdown.
Marvin Harrison Jr. caught three touchdown passes as he and Emeka Egbuka each finished with over 100 yards receiving. Julian Fleming’s four catches went for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Ohio State out-gained the Spartans 614 yards to 202. Michael Hall Jr. recorded 2.5 sacks.

49-20 Ohio State, 2:05 4Q — The Buckeyes and Spartans keep trading punts. This time, Ohio State takes over on its own 22-yard line.

49-13 Ohio State, 13:14 4Q — The Buckeyes defense forces a punt. Ohio State takes over on its own 17-yard line.

42-13 Ohio State, 9:46 3Q — Touchdown, Ohio State. Marvin Harrison Jr. makes another circus catch over a defender for a touchdown. The Buckeyes started the drive inside their own 5-yard line after a penalty on the kickoff. Scoring drive: nine plays, 96 yards in 5:03.
Ohio State-Michigan State second quarter updates
End of the first half. Ohio State leads Michigan State 35-13 and the Buckeyes will receive the ball out of halftime. Ohio State out-gained the Spartans 429 yards to 117. TreVeyon Henderson ran for 117 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries, while C.J. Stroud was 15-of-18 passing for 285 yards, four touchdowns and an interception.

21-7 Ohio State, 14:29 2Q — Touchdown, Ohio State. After converting a fourth-and-1, C.J. Stroud tosses a 51-yard touchdown pass to Julian Fleming. Scoring drive: eight plays, 98 yards in 2:44.

14-7 Ohio State, 2:13 1Q — After driving into Ohio State territory, Michigan State downs a punt at the Buckeyes 2-yard line. A pass interference penalty against Cameron Brown on an under-thrown ball extended the Spartans’ drive.
