COLUMBUS — Ohio State already needs to fill three of its on-field staff positions for next season. Now the Buckeyes will need to replace a key off-field staffer, as well.

Ohio State Director of Recruiting Morgan Phillips, who joined the program in August from LSU, is heading back to the bayou; she accepted a position on the LSU staff after just six months at Ohio State according to On3 LSU reporter Shea Dixon, who said Phillips will be the new LSU Director of Recruiting Events.

Phillips began working with the football program in August as the Director of Recruiting. She worked in an on-campus role.

An Alabama graduate, Phillips joined the LSU football staff in August 2023 and was the Tigers’ Recruiting Operations Coordinator. During her time at Alabama, Phillips worked as a coordinator in the Head Coach’s Office, working directly with Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide.

According to the LSU athletics website, Morgan got her start in recruiting in 2021 as a recruiting operations intern with Alabama Football.

She took over the position at Ohio State for Erin Dunston, who left Ohio State to take a position at Michigan following the final official visit weekend of last summer. Dunston had been with the Buckeyes since 2021 as the director of on-campus recruiting and had recently been promoted to her position. She previously worked at Kansas and Purdue. Dunston was included in On3’s 2022 rising star personnel and recruiting staffers you need to know.

With Dunston at Michigan, Ohio State hired Morgan Phillips to a recruiting role just six months ago. Now after just a few months with the Buckeyes, she’s heading back to LSU.
