COLUMBUS — The sun struggled to shine at Ohio Stadium on Saturday but a number of young Buckeyes had no such challenge.

Ryan Day and his program returned to the field in Columbus for the final time this spring in front of more than 60,000 fans despite a chilier-than-anticipated — and rainy — April afternoon. The weather didn’t affect the energy of the young Ohio State team though as Day’s offense took its first real crack at new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles revamped defense.

There were, as expected, some bumps in the delivery on the day for Ohio State but in general, Saturday’s scrimmage provided a fantastic teaser for what could be a special 2022 season for the Buckeyes. It’s been a whirlwind couple of weeks for this year’s team but the culmination of 15 practices came with a flurry as the Buckeyes went offense against defense rather than a split-squad format.

When the dust settled, it was the Ohio State offense edging out the defense on a day that saw a number of probable starters held out for precautionary reasons. That opened the door for lesser-known talents like Evan Pryor to step into the spotlight and he did that, impressing the crowd with his speed and quickness.

As usual, Lettermen Row will do our very best to bring the sights and sounds from Ohio State every single step of the way. We’ve got photos from the morning session below. Ryan Day will speak live from the Buckeyes team meeting room on Tuesday morning as well.
