Ohio State opens as massive favorite over Indiana
It comes as no surprise, but Ohio State has opened as a massive betting favorite for its Week 1 road game against Indiana.
The Buckeyes are 30-point favorites, according to Caesar Sportsbook, which has the set the scoring total over/under for 59.0 points.
Since Ryan Day took over as the Buckeyes’ full-time head coach in 2019, Indiana has only beaten the spread in meetings against Ohio State once. And that was in 2020, the best Hoosiers season this century. Indiana finished that year 11th in the College Football Playoff rankings, head coach Tom Allen won Big Ten Coach of the Year and, before that, the Hoosiers had a shot against the Buckeyes, falling 42-35, in Columbus.
Otherwise, things have been quite lopsided in the teams’ series the last few years. Ohio State has averaged 50.8 points per game versus Indiana with Day at the helm. Take away the 2020 matchup — which, for what it’s worth, occurred during the COVID-19-abbreviated season — and the Buckeyes have outscored the Hoosiers, 161-31, in their three other head-to-head bouts amid Day’s head coaching run.

What did Indiana head coach Tom Allen say about the Buckeyes?
Indiana head coach Tom Allen is mostly keeping his cards close to his chest. In fact, not only is he not announcing his starting quarterback publicly ahead of Saturday’s opener against Ohio State, but he’s also not revealing his starting kicker.
There are question marks up and down this year’s Indiana roster, which includes 20 transfer additions. Allen and his staff are trying to re-energize a Hoosiers team that has gone a combined 6-18 the last two years.
Allen met with the media Monday to preview Indiana’s Week 1 matchup against Ohio State. Here’s what he had to say.
