Ohio State defensive line targets in focus as Buckeyes wait on first commit

COLUMBUS — Larry Johnson has been as good a recruiting coach as Ohio State has ever had.

The long-time defensive line coach is a legend in the coaching business. He has delivered time after time for the Buckeyes since joining Urban Meyer’s staff in 2014.

That’s why there’s no need for panic as he continues to wait for his first commitment in the Class of 2022.

Johnson has welcomed in nearly every priority target to campus in Columbus already this summer. The first domino is going to fall soon, because it just has to.

And between that first decision, no matter who it comes from, and December? There will be a number of big decisions from big-time defensive linemen that Ohio State has prioritized for months. That list includes long-time targets like Caden Curry and Omari Abor, two players who are no-doubt, must-get type of prospects.

It also includes more recent offers, like Oklahoma’s Chris McClellan. The 6-foot-5, 290-pound 4-star prospect has has quickly become a top-of-the-board prospect for the Buckeyes.
