Tim May: Ohio State safeties Lathan Ransom, Caleb Downs have been locked in, as expected

COLUMBUS — As Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles put it, the never-ending quest for perfection ensues on a daily basis, even in an off week, but there are couple of starters who perhaps are a little closer to it than others. Safeties Lathan Ransom, a senior who has ascended through the Buckeyes ranks, and Caleb Downs, the celebrated sophomore transfer from Alabama who led that team in tackles last season, thus far have played up to expectations.
