COLUMBUS — The end of the road arrived suddenly for Ohio State basketball, if not unexpectedly.

Meanwhile, the journey is only just beginning for a Buckeyes football program with legitimate championship expectations and an unwavering standard of excellence.

The crossroads of those two moments again popped up for a fun, casual conversation at Roosters as the Lettermen Live crew got together to assess the damage for hoops team after its season-ending loss while Ryan Day has his squad back from spring break ahead of practice on Tuesday.

As always, the debate was lively as former Buckeyes Bobby Carpenter and Justin Zwick were joined by Lettermen Row reporters Austin Ward and Jeremy Birmingham in a wide-ranging chat.

Among the topics this week at Roosters:

  • Ohio State practiced twice before heading to spring break. What’s the deal with acclimation periods, and what do the Buckeyes need to get accomplished with three workouts in pads on tap this week?
  • Birm is back on the show and diving into his Buckeyes to watch during spring camp. He takes a closer look at Kamryn Babb and Julian Fleming for how they fit into the wide receiver rotation.
  • Chris Holtmann is obviously not going to be fired at Ohio State. But after missing the Sweet Sixteen yet again, there are questions that need to be answered for the hoops program — especially in comparison to rival Michigan.
  • For some reason Avril Lavigne is once again brought into the discussion as the conversation veers wildly off the tracks, as it’s always prone to do.
  • Mac and Cheese Bites are back as the featured Appetizer Tuesday selection.

As always, Lettermen Live is hosted by Roosters on Olentangy River Road in Columbus.
