COLUMBUS — Ohio State defensive tackle Ty Hamilton went from Pickerington native to national champion for the Buckeyes. Now he’s ready to make his mark in the NFL.

Hamilton will begin his NFL career in Los Angeles; he was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the 148th overall pick in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft on Saturday. Hamilton is the fourth and final starting Ohio State defensive lineman from that national championship defense to be selected in this year’s draft, joining defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, who was a first-round pick to the Detroit Lions, and defensive ends J.T. Tuimoloau and Jack Sawyer.

He’s the 11th Ohio State player to be selected in this draft.

The fifth-year senior appeared in 57 games across five seasons at Ohio State, but was never the most highly discussed defensive lineman on the Buckeyes roster during his time with the program. He was, however, productive across multiple seasons. For his career, he had 116 total tackles, 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks. He had six tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks last year for the Buckeyes.

Hamilton is the brother of current Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton.

He’s also a Pickerington native, a local legend at Ohio State and a national champion. Now he’s a member of the Los Angeles Rams after being selected in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Four Buckeyes selected in first round of 2025 NFL Draft

Ohio State had four players selected in the first round of the NFL Draft. Wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (19th overall), offensive lineman Donovan Jackson (24th overall), defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (28th overall) and left tackle Josh Simmons (32nd overall) were taken — two of them heading to the NFC North as Jackson will be in Minnesota while Williams is heading to Detroit. Egbuka was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while Simmons went to the Kansas City Chiefs.
