COLUMBUS — Ohio State is still celebrating its historic national championship win from two months ago. The Buckeyes have been honored by the athletic department in various ways since the football program beat Notre Dame 34-23 in Atlanta on Jan. 20.

The honorary tour will reportedly continue once the new-look Buckeyes wrap up spring football. Ohio State is reportedly set to visit the White House on April 14 to be honored by President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, a graduate of Ohio State. The report of the Buckeyes’ White House visit is from CBS News.

Ohio State will be the second sports team to visit the White House since Trump’s inauguration on Jan. 20, the same day the Buckeyes won the national title. The 2024 Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers visited the White House in February.

The Philadelphia Eagles, who won the Super Bowl, will also be visit the White House soon, that visit coming on April 28.

Following the national championship win, Ohio State coach Ryan Day began talking about how many stories this title-winning team had to tell after its 14-2 record, including College Football Playoff wins ove Tennessee at home, Oregon in the Rose Bowl quarterfinal, Texas in the Cotton Bowl semifinal and Notre Dame in the national title game.

“I said it before, that there’s been some great teams in Ohio State history, nine who are national champs, but in the last, I think it’s 53 years, up until this game there’s only been two that have been national champs, and this is the third right here,” Day said. “We’re going to take some time to celebrate, enjoy it, because these guys deserve it.”

Now that story will continue to be told as the national champions will head to the White House to be honored following spring practice.
